Representing Victoria Country, Walker averaged 23.7 disposals (10 contested) and 3.7 clearances across three matches as the side placed fourth in the five-team competition.
The Echuca Murray Bombers product also had to contend with a shoulder injury suffered in his first game of the championships against the Allies.
The setback ruled Walker out of Victoria Country’s second game against Western Australia, but he returned to be named in the best players in both of the side’s final two matches.
The midfielder dominated against South Australia with 36 touches and five clearances before totalling 19 disposals in a heavy loss to Victoria Metro.
Expected to join Carlton through a father-son selection at this year’s AFL draft, Walker was praised for his displays by AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan after the championships.
“A midfielder who is a stoppage star, Walker has a great ability to read the play, extract the footy from congestion and then burst away with elite pace,” Sheehan said in a profile piece on the AFL website.
A week after the championships, Walker returned home to play one last match for Echuca for the foreseeable future, being named in the best Murray Bombers as they went down to Kyabram in the Goulburn Valley League.
The past two weeks has seen Walker return to Carlton’s VFL program, featuring in matches against St Kilda and Footscray Bulldogs.
He kicked a goal against the Saints and was named in the Blues’ best in both fixtures.
Carlton has qualified for the VFL finals series after finishing ninth, with Walker expected to feature again on Saturday, August 22 in a wildcard game against Williamstown at DSV Stadium.
While putting his best foot forward to aid the post-season campaign, Walker will also have his eye on the AFL Draft Combine, having been invited to partake in the four-day national event.
The local prospect is among a group of 63 players who are expected to participate in a series of athletic tests and interview with clubs from Wednesday, September 30 to Saturday, October 3.
