With the grade set to be moved next season, the Murray Bombers will look to make it a fitting GVL finale after finishing atop the ladder, a promising season for the young football side.
They will be vying for a flag alongside the thirds, reserves and seniors for a football flag, as well as the under-15 and 17 netball.
They’ll be looking to set the tone for the day in the 8.30am grand final against Shepparton Swans, and in the pressure cauldron that is a grand final, Echuca coach Jayden Howe said the contest could boil down to who gets their eye in first.
“This is going to be a great game,” Howe said.
“They have some really good young players, we have won both times we have played them through the season but this weekend will come down to who can kick straight.”
Finishing as minor premier with 12 wins and two losses, Echuca carved a path to the decider via a seven-point win over Shepparton Bears before toppling this weekend’s grand final opponent by 22 points in the semi-final.
Skipper Makai Cronin and vice-captain Jed Dargan will lead Echuca into battle as they look to set the tone for the day.
“Both teams have showed they can score and both teams have showed they can be inconsistent in front of goal,” Howe said.
“Whoever fixes that the quickest on Sunday will win the game. Scoreboard pressure is huge in a grand final.”
Echuca and Shepparton Swans’ under-16s will face off from 8.30am at Deakin Reserve.
