Meanwhile, both local Murray league sides that were in action, Moama and Tongala, had perfect results, with the Magpies defeating Numurkah 14.6 (90) to 8.7 (55) in senior football and 55-48 in A-grade netball.
Tongala played Finley, the Blues winning a thrilling football clash 12.8 (80) to 11.11 (77), while their netball side recorded a huge margin of victory over the Cats, prevailing 75-32.
In stark contrast, the two local Heathcote District Football Netball League sides struggled, with Leitchville-Gunbower swept by Mount Pleasant, 12.16 (88) to 11.4 (70) in senior football and 79-27 in A-grade netball.
Lockington-Bamawm United had the same overall outcome across its two clashes with North Bendigo, being on the end of a heavy 17.15 (117) to 7.11 (53) football loss, while the Cats’ netballers lost a tight encounter, 54-45.
There were no wins for local sides in the Picola District Football Netball League either, as Picola United’s football side was handed a 9.12 (66) to 0.2 (2) loss to Waaia, though the Blues’ A-grade netball team fared better in a close 41-35 defeat.
Mathoura also lost its senior matches against Katandra, the Timbercutters losing their football clash 3.2 (20) to 21.23 (149), and A-grade netball 72-20.
