The Echuca branch of the National Australia Bank donated 24 brand-new Sherrins to Echuca United’s Auskick/Superkick setup on Friday, August 7.
While the 2026 edition of the program concludes this Friday, Auskick/Superkick co-ordinator Bree Hannasky says the donation was welcome support to the club.
“We had a really big boost in numbers this year, we had 140 kids signed up with Auskick and Superkick, so it’s really handy to have some extra footies,” she said.
“Every year when we get organised for the season and pump a few up there's always a few that don't make it and go down again too quickly, so we have to turf them.
“It's really helpful to have some brand new ones, the kids will love them.”
NAB also hosted a barbecue for the juniors following their session.
The Auskick and Superkick programs are designed to introduce kids to football, beginning from the year they turn five up to age 12.
One-hour sessions teach the sport through game-based activities over 12 weeks.
The programs are a key part of the sports development system, preparing kids for the transition to more competitive grades in their teenage years.
“It's also a great environment to make friends and meet new people from different schools and different backgrounds,” Hannasky said.
This year’s program at Echuca United ran from May to August.
