Having been defeated by Finley only three weeks earlier, the team knew they had to bring their A-game.
And that is exactly what they did.
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, their first 20 overs could not be faulted.
They all bowled tight lines and lengths, and despite only getting one wicket, it was the wicket of the league-leading run scorer for 8.
It was an absolute peach from Archie Daniel to remove him.
Finley, after their 20 overs, were 1-47.
Katty went in to bat with Riley Thompson and Jack Latessa going about wiping off the 47 first up.
That they did, with Thompson the first to go out for 34, with Katty already on 53.
Latessa was the next to go for 10. But he batted well and ran each run like his life depended on it.
Archie Daniel and Cooper Mynard saw it through to stumps.
Katty was on 2-83 with a 36-run lead and all of a sudden in the box seat.
On Sunday morning, Finley continued on from its first innings score.
It needed quick runs, but the Katty boys stuck at the task and had Finley on the ropes at 6-64, still behind its overnight score of 83.
A great partnership saw Finley get to 7-97, but Katty wrapped things up in the last over.
Finley were all out for 105.
Thompson took two catches behind the stumps, a run-out and then 3-12 off five overs.
He would go on to earn the best-on medal and was outstanding.
All the bowlers did an exceptional job. Cooper Mynard led from the front with two wickets, as did Archie Daniel.
James Bray picked up two wickets before taking the gloves and taking two ripping catches behind the stumps.
Patrick Edis' catch in the outfield topped off a great fielding performance.
With 20 overs to bat, the task was simple.
Katty needed 23 runs to be premiers. Daniel and Mynard got off to a solid start before Daniel chopped one on for a well-made 25.
A few nervous moments followed, with the loss of a couple more wickets and the score at 5-97.
Mynard had other ideas and iced the game with back-to-back fours.
A club spokesperson said it was a massive win for the under-14s following the under-17s premiership.
“What a great result for our cricket club,” the spokesperson said.
“Hats off to the under-14s coaches, Steve Carr and Simon Daniel, (they did) a fabulous job with the boys all year.
“A quick shout-out for our presentation night where we can reflect on the outstanding year.
“(That will be) next Friday night (March 22) at the club rooms starting at 5.30pm.”
