Echuca’s women’s football side maintained an unbeaten start to its Goulburn Murray Women’s League season, thrashing league newcomer Rumbalara by 138 points at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.

The Murray Bombers dominated the game in all facets to record their second win of the year after defeating Shepparton United by eight points in the opening round.
Paige Baksh was named best-on-ground after kicking nine goals, while Kate Dixon added four majors and Jacquelyn James and Jorden Irvine each kicked three.
James, Dixon and Irvine joined Baksh, as well as Sophie Perkins and Krystelle Lloyd, among the Murray Bombers’ best.
It has been a promising start to Echuca’s title defence after a raft of premiership players moved on in the off-season.
Rumbalara is one of three new sides in the re-named GMWL (formerly Northern Country Women’s League) this year, joining the now eight-team competition along with Barooga and Mansfield.
In other women’s football action, Echuca United’s Goulburn Murray Girls League team scored a win over Moama on Friday, April 12.
The Eagles defeated the Magpies 9.10 (64) to 6.2 (38) to remain unbeaten after two rounds.
Harper Delamare and Ruby Mcleod each kicked three goals for United, while Matilda Fowler was named her side’s best.
Katie Shanon kicked three majors to lead Moama, while Beth Morris added two and was best-on-ground for the Magpies.
Morris played for Victoria Country’s under-16 side in the National Development Championships on Thursday, April 11, narrowly falling to Victoria Metro by two points, 4.5 (29) to 4.7 (31).
