Murray Bombers win big again

Echuca raced out of the blocks, booting the first three goals of the match.

The Swans got on the board towards the end of the opening quarter, but the Murray Bombers still had time to add another two to their tally and take a 27-point lead into the first change.

The hosts picked up where they left off to begin the second term, kicking another two goals in what was a lower scoring period, the Swans closing the half with a major, but well behind, Echuca leading 7.6 (48) to 2.3 (15).

Strong starts to each quarter were a theme across the Murray Bombers’ performance, which continued to open the second half as Echuca kicked four in a row, that run forming the backbone of a seven-goal-to-two term.

Despite being up by 64 points entering the fourth quarter, Simon Maddox’s side didn’t let up, booting another five majors to close the match.

Shepparton Swans produced their best period in the final term with three goals, but it was cosmetic in the overall picture, Echuca winning 19.10 (124) to 7.8 (50) for another big boost to its percentage.

The Murray Bombers and Shepparton continue to lead the rest of the competition in second and first, respectively, with Echuca trailing on percentage.

Next up, Echuca travels to Mansfield looking for a fourth straight win, the Eagles sitting fifth having had an inconsistent season.
