Back on the track.
The nine-year-old mare brought out of to her 16th win when she saluted at last week’s Kilmore meeting.
Not bad for a pacer who didn’t race between August 2021 and October 2023 when sent to the retirement paddock.
But her current and former trainer Wayne Lear reunited with the pacer, brought her out of retirement and turned her fortunes around.
As one of her early trainers Lear always had great faith in the mare and it has paid dividends.
Now a nine-year-old the daughter of Mach Three’s latest win was her sixth this season.
There have also been seven seconds and two thirds which have equated to nearly $25,000 in stakemoney earnings.
Lear recounted this week that Trent Saunderson purchased Wheres Wood Wood when she was retired in 2021 with the intention of a broodmare career, but thought they’d give her one more chance on the racetrack before that happened.
And after what has transpired in recent months motherhood is now on next year’s radar.
‘‘We’ll keep her going now while she is racing so well,’’ Lear said.
Wheres Wood Wood has clocked 122 starts and apart from her 16 wins has run second 19 times and third on 11 occasions.
Wheres Wood Wood’s latest win also continued the run of success her driver, Shepparton’s Tasmyn Potter, is enjoying at the moment.
