Walker recorded a 6.04 in the two-kilometre time trial, a result nine seconds clear of second in his group.
It was also the third-best time among all participants.
Other tests at the three-day event included a standing and running vertical jump, 20-metre sprint, and an agility test.
Walker didn’t place in the top 10 in any of those.
But given the importance of stamina for midfielders, his strong result in the long distance run would have left club representatives impressed — if they weren’t already.
Walker also spoke to Zero Hanger at the event in a 20-minute interview, where he was asked about his roots.
The draftee in waiting is already using national platforms to boast about Echuca.
“Echuca’s been everything to me,” Walker said.
“My best mates and all my family are there and I’m really attached to the footy club as well.
“I love the club and I love the town as well.”
It’s safe to say the feeling is mutual.
