In scenes that warm the heart of local sporting clubs, 22 riders turned up in time to participate in our traditionally rapid AGM.
A huge thanks to our departing secretary Kaz Griffiths and to George Griffiths who is stepping back from the committee.
Thanks also to those members returning for another year, there's lots happening at EMCC in 2027.
A/B Grade
Coming all the way from Strathmerton, Craig Sloper signed up to race, while Sam Smith was having a crack at his first EMCC Crit.
Completing the field were Francis Lias, Cam Smith, Nick McNair, Scott Moller, Troy Griffiths and Brayden Walsh, fresh off a debut sub 10hr Ironman.
The hot pace claimed two riders, both named Smith.
Into the final lap it was Brayden Walsh who exploded to a lead which he held to the finish, a comfortable winner from Craig Sloper, with Nick McNair securing another podium.
C Grade
Stepping up to C Grade, Martyn Currey joined Billy Sutton, Will Kettle, Tom Cook and a couple feeling a little Gravelist-ed from the weekend, in Kaz Griffiths and Claire Goodman.
With a burst to start, this was to be a different race, even Will Kettle boiled early.
As the pace continued, with legs not quite feeling top-notch, Claire drifted off the back.
With a handful of minutes to go, it was Tom's turn to make a move, as he scorched the field to storm to the win, in what looked like the perfect warm up to B Grade.
Billy Sutton rode strongly for second, with Will Kettle in third.
D Grade
Another bumper field with eight riders in the bunch for D Grade, Heather Lias, Zenon, Jerrod Davison, Paul Oman, Joel Pike, Cookie, a well-travelled Neil Ennis and the recently crowned 25x Ironman finisher and ultimate strong man, Dave Oman.
After some strong training on the shiny new bike, Heather looked the good bet.
With a strong performance by all through the race, things looked evenly matched.
In the end, it was Neil Ennis for the win, followed by 'New Bike' Heather, with Cookie in third.
Thanks to race director H, photographer Richard and Cam for setting up the track.
We'll see you all back on November 10.
