Moama Indoor

Last Thursday’s indoor social bowls winners were Coral Balantyne, Johanna Bronsgeest, Max Kerr and Joy Hooper. Runners-up were Ken Hopper, Bev Guarda, John McVicker and Ron Hooper.

Sunday’s indoor social winners were Paula Barkham, Sam Natassi, Joan Heals and Peter Pavone. Runners-up were Dot Ryan, Mike Barkham, Colin Hicks and Pam Rayment.

Last Thursday’s Ladies Scroungers competition winner was Deana Hogan. Runner up was Shirley Riters.

Also on that day, the men’s pairs winners were Rod Allen and Bernie O’Connell. Runners-up were Gary Radford and Bill Curnow.

Saturday’s open pairs winners were Kath Wastell and Vern Rehe. Runners-up were Glenda Robins and Graham Robins.

Sunday Roast mixed pairs winners were Carmel Simpson and Michael Bakof. Runners-up were Sandra Nugent and Barry Barbary.

City of Echuca

Last Thursday the men’s pairs competition was won by Jim Thomas and Carlie Taylor. Runners-up were Greg Clymo and Eddie Smith.

Vouchers went to Trevor Nagorcka, Max Kosch, Eugene Xodo and Sam Nastasi.

And on Saturday, a mixed social bowls tournament was won by Steve Morgan, Danny Matthews, Richard Robb and Patricia Black.

Moama RSL

At Moama RSL last week, 19 players took part in three games of seven ends. Winners on 47 points were Derek Smith (skipper), Bev Guarda, and Phyllis Allez.

Runners-up with 33 points were Joan Heales (skip), Bev Healey and Hazel O’Dwyer. Consolation prizes went to Peter Pavone, Colin Hicks and Doug Gill.


Saturday’s Mathoura Ian Clark Memorial tournament was held in the two bowl triples format.

The club had 14 teams playing, with many local clubs and visitors from afar, starting at 10am.

Winners on the day were a combined team from Mathoura and Hilltop, David Hicks, of Mathoura, was skip. He was joined by J. Hicks and R. Sellwood, of Hilltop.

Runners-up on the day were Troy Mansbridge, of Mathoura, leading the team, alongside Norm Hodge of Echuca and Tim Starkey of Mathoura.

Sunday’s Mathoura skins three bowl triples had 16 teams playing. Clear winners with 10 skins was Craig Hillier’s team. Runners-up with nine skins was Barry Spence and his team from Picola.

In the club championship 21-up handicap D. Hicks defeated L. Bates. Hicks will play Paul Clear in the club final.

60 and Over

Last Wednesday the group played its last game at Ky Valley View for the season.

Bob Greenaway and Rod Donohue, with their small band of helpers, were well prepared when 84 bowlers arrived.

Three teams were in the final play off, with winners honours going to Brian Kirk’s team. Skip was Max Bennet, alongside Wal Wadge, Danny Mathews and Angus McQuarrie.

Runners-up was a mixed Echuca-Moama team with two bowls within the yard arm. Skip was Ken Sipthorp, with Charlie Pelligrino, Sam Nastasi and Tim Robertson in the side.

The group’s annual general meeting will be held on Monday April 23 at Moama Bowling Club, starting at 10am.

Rich River

Results of mixed indoor bowls from last Friday saw winners in Bob Pascoe and Shirley Davis.

Runners-up on the day were Elaine Murphy, Hazel O’Dwyer and Marion Orr.
