Echuca police searching for stolen car

By Ivy Jensen

ECHUCA police are appealing for information into the theft of a vehicle from Wharparilla early yesterday.

A white 2018 Ford Ranger, registration IMU9BD, was stolen from an O’Sullivan Rd property about 3am.

“The owner woke up to see the vehicle drive away,” Detective Sergeant Barry Gray of Campaspe criminal investigation unit said.

“It was heading south towards the Murray Valley Hwy.”

Det. Sgt Gray said it was unsure of the 4WD was locked or had the keys inside.

It follows the theft of a Toyota LandCruiser Troop Carrier from Boats and More on the Northern Hwy last week.

It was set alight in Anstruther St two days later. No-one has been arrested over the crime.

“We’re still looking at CCTV and narrowing down some suspects,” Det Sgt Gray said.

“There is nothing to suggest they (two car thefts) are connected.

“We’re not making any assumptions.”

Anyone with information about either thefts or who has seen the Ford Ranger is urged to contact police on 5483 1500 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
