This “Shop Local” Christmas Shopping Night has been planned as a way to promote the local businesses in the Echuca, High St, area and to promote them as the first option for locals when it comes to looking for gifts for the family.
The night is also a great opportunity for the Echuca-Moama Rotary Club to raise funds in aid of the local projects and opportunities that the COVID-19 restrictions have made difficult or impossible to run, and allow the club to become more involved in the community again.
The Rotary Club has planned for 12 groups of about 10 people to be led around the locally owned businesses.
Each stop on the tour will last about 15 minutes, allowing for customers to hear about what the shops have to offer, their best Christmas buys, and then for customers to quickly browse and make their Christmas purchases.
In all, shoppers will be given three hours to shop until they drop.
The Rotary Club of Echuca-Moama announced it was planning to advertise the tickets for this event, but before it could, many of the tickets were bought within a week of being available.
The club said it had been blown away by how keen locals were to support the event and the businesses.
So far, 10 businesses at the Heritage Port end of High St have come on board, leaping at the opportunity.
Organisers of the shopping night have been overwhelmed at their enthusiasm and generosity for this event.
The Rotary Club would like to thank “all of the wonderful businesses that have jumped on board so far and thank them for giving this new initiative a go.”
The club also thanks members for reaching out to businesses and supporting this event so well.
