Council has enacted upon the State Government directive announced on May 24 for these facilities throughout Victoria to reopen.
“Council thanks the community for adhering to this measure, which was enacted at the end of March,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Although these facilities were closed to the public throughout April and May, Council has taken this time to undertake maintenance on many of its playgrounds in readiness for the reopening.
“The reopening of playgrounds will also enable residents to use the rejuvenated Kitchener Street Park at Leitchville and the Lake Charm exercise equipment since recent construction works.”
The reopening of playgrounds, exercise equipment and skate parks are part of the Victorian Government’s easing of Coronavirus-related restrictions, with details of major restrictions coming in place from 12 midnight on June 1 available at www.vic.gov.au/coronavirus
“Although these restrictions are easing, residents are urged to remain vigilant,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“Please keep maintaining a physical distance of 1.5 metres between yourselves and others wherever possible, and continue to undertake good handwashing, cough and sneeze etiquette.”
