Cyclists were put through their paces on a warm summer evening, but a breakaway group set itself apart from the competition in several close finishes.
In the A-grade race, a pair of visiting riders made their presence known.
David Randall from Canberra and Kieran Schneider of Horsham crossed the finish line first and second respectively, but despite breaking away from the pack but being wrenched back as the race wore on.
The chasers, led by eventual third-placed rider Levi Hone, reeled the duo back in but Randall and Schneider broke away in the final sprint to take out line honours.
Meanwhile, Lenny Griffiths broke through in B-grade after placing second in the category at the club’s previous criterium.
Griffiths was forced to contend with runner-up Nick McNair in the sprint to the line, but the young cyclist just managed to pip the fast-finishing McNair and third-placed Chris Stephens to take out the win.
Travis Whitten and Liam Clohosey once again finished on the C-grade podium, but this time it was Whitten who crossed the line first, while Clohosey finished third behind runner-up Darren McKemmish.
Melanie Smolenaars took out the D-grade criterium ahead of Heather Lias and Ray Hamilton to round out the event.
Now breaking for the Christmas period, EMCC will recommence its season on Friday, January 14.
