The stage is set for all five Campaspe Valley Bowls Division titles to be decided at the Moama Bowling Club tomorrow afternoon.
After prolonged normal seasons, due to a searingly hot summer delaying matches and forcing some to be abandoned, the grand finals are upon us.
Echuca and Moama proved once again this season they are the strongest clubs in the CVBD. Echuca claimed the division one midweek pennant recently and Moama claimed division two.
And the top two weekend pennant divisions are set to be decided in a similar manner.
CVBD chairman and Moama division two player Merv Harvey said he looked forward to seeing the two heavyweights of the league going head to head.
‘‘They have been the dominant clubs over the last few years,’’ he said.
‘‘Last year Moama managed to get one over Echuca and I suppose they’ll be looking forward to getting another one.
‘‘The Echuca ladies (midweek pennant) picked up two grand final wins, so the men will want to carry that on.
‘‘It’s interesting for us because the last two times Echuca have beaten us, they beat us the most recent time at City of Echuca, then beat us at Tongala, while we finished top we had to play again last week against Deni so it’ll be close.’’
Harvey said although the division one final was too close to call, his division two Moama teammates were feeling confident ahead of their own final.
‘‘You all have your own feelings and sometimes having a week off isn’t the best,’’ he said.
‘‘In division two we’re quietly confident but in division one the last two times the two have played, Moama has won reasonably well but I just have a feeling it will be a very close final.
‘‘It will be great for spectators. The way City of Echuca has played recently I’d expect Echuca to do really well.’’
Matches will be played at Moama Bowling Club on Saturday from 1.30pm onwards.
