The zoo is giving 100 students the chance to win an excursion to its facility to celebrate the arrival of elephants to the zoo.
To be in the running, schools were asked to submit artworks, videos, writing pieces, signs and banners, dances or any eco-friendly creations that followed an elephant theme.
The students at Twin Rivers immersed themselves in learning all about the zoo and the animals before putting together a video.
Performing arts teacher Judy Stewart said their submission was a whole school effort.
“They have just had a blast doing it. They have really loved working with the teachers and with each other to produce something they’re really proud of, and they just deserve it,” she said.
“I wrote the poem, but the other teachers have made masks to go with it, others have done the technology sides of it and putting the video together.
“Even getting the kids to read (the poem), it was part of their literacy work, so it’s been across the curriculum ... it’s been a whole team effort, and it’s great that the whole school got behind it.”
All entrants were given a month to create something and submit it for voting.
The winner of the competition is based on the submission that receives the most likes on their post.
