The Border Raiders put in a gutsy first-half performance against Strathfieldsaye on Sunday, but the Colts had the quality to run over the top of them in the second.
It was a dream start for Echuca-Moama at Vilbert Reserve in Shepparton, as Louise O’Callaghan broke the deadlock within 10 minutes.
Caught on the back foot, the more-favoured Strathfieldsaye struggled to break through a resolute Border Raiders defence in the following minutes.
Finally, late in the half, the Colts regained control, first forcing through a Border Raiders’ own goal, and then following up a minute later through Caitlin Robertson to take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
After the break, Strathfieldsaye had regained its composure and put the Border Raiders under a relentless assault.
The Echuca-Moama side gave its all, but the Colts were able to strike five more times over the second 45 minutes, the game ending 7-1.
Strathfieldsaye goes on to the final four in the Supercup, while the Border Raiders head into the offseason after a mixed first campaign in the BASL top flight.
