A bit small in the way of news this week, as the forthcoming 2025-26 Pennant Season is knocking on the door.
There was no Scrounge on Wednesday, while the members had little to report from the Sixty and Over competition held at the Rochester Bowls Club on Wednesday.
Excellent hospitality and true running greens.
On Saturday, the crowd was only meagre as members were glued to the television sets watching the AFL grand final.
However, there was a real challenge match played, and the winning team absolutely trashed their opposition 17-5.
Congratulations to Pos Andrea, John Andrea and Cindy Felmingham (s) on a near flawless display.
The opposition, comprising Shane Felmingham, Lloyd Buchanan and John Fisher (s) may have a bit of work to do before they line up for Pennant.

Rochester Golf Club
92 golfers played in our popular annual MND Charity 4-Person Ambrose format last Friday.
The course, being in excellent condition and strong westerly winds meant that all the long holes downwind had more potential for the big hitters in the groups to score eagles or birdies.
This was the case with David Gebbie's team of Shane Bywaters, Andy Purdey and Frank Severino, their 10 under-par (62) off the white markers easily won the best gross score.
Surprise winners in the handicap section were Grant Robinson, Tonny Griffiths, David Harris and James Anderson, net 55.5.

Longest drives went to Karen Taylor and Michael Georgiani.
Straight drives on the 10th were won by Karen Ballantyne and young Josh Cleary.

Young and upcoming golfer Zac McInness won a ball for his eagle 3 on the par-5 5th hole.
Captain Darren White thanked all those who assisted in preparing the course, working in the clubrooms, and, in particular, our major sponsors, Rochester Sports Power and Nutrien Ag Solutions, for the money raised, which will be split between MND and local charities.
Visitors were from the usual local golf clubs such as Elmore, Lockington, Bamawm, Rich River, and from Castlemaine, Port Arlington and Portland.
On Saturday, a small group played early, in ideal conditions.
Zac McInnes, once again broke his handicap, winning with 40 Stableford points from Shane Connelly (37) and Col Harvey on 36 points.

Kyabram Pigeon Club
The Kyabram Racing Pigeon Club put in the hard yards at the weekend, making the trip out to the South Australian border for its latest race.
Two events were held on Sunday, September 28; a standard race and the 2nd Breeders Plate.
The standard event saw 12 trainers release 166 birds from the liberation point, just over the border alongside the Sturt Highway, outside of Renmark.
The birds then covered the more than 400 km journey back to owners lofts around Echuca and Kyabram.
The fastest finisher, with an average velocity of 1346.15 metres per minute, was Ray Armstrong’s flock, the Echuca local taking out the event ahead of Moama’s M and P Racing (1344.7) and Echuca Village’s Rod Clark (1343.57).
Simultaneously, trainers were also participating in the clubs’ second Breeders Plate of the season.
In this format, trainers were able to score multiple entries, and M and P Racing cashed in, taking out first and third place.
In between was Rod Clark in second, while two Peter White entries and a Ray Armstrong representative rounded out the top six.
