On Wednesday, October 29, a white Toyota HiLux 4WD was stolen from Finley, NSW.
    
                  
                                                                
                  
                                            
                              
        About 10.30am on Thursday, October 30, the vehicle was involved in a short pursuit with members of Victoria Police near Echuca, where it failed to stop and crossed the Murray River into Moama.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        The pursuit was monitored by Victoria Police Air Wing, which continued to follow the vehicle interstate.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        Officers attached to Murray River Police District sighted the vehicle on Meninya St, and attempted to stop it.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        When it failed to stop, the officers commenced a pursuit, which was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        The vehicle’s location continued to be monitored by Victoria Police Air Wing through Moama, Thyra and Mathoura.
    
                  
                                                                
                  
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        A short time later, NSW Police was notified by Victoria Police Air Wing that the vehicle had stopped under a bridge on the roadway at Millewa Rd, Mathoura.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        When police approached the parked vehicle, it took off again at high speed and a pursuit was initiated.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        NSW Police terminated the pursuit a short time later due to safety concerns.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        The vehicle’s location continued to be monitored by Victoria Police Air Wing through Tocumwal and back towards Mathoura.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        The driver managed to avoid road spikes on two occasions, which had been set up by police in an attempt to disable the vehicle.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        A further pursuit continued through roads in the Millewa State Forest, before the driver stopped the vehicle and ran into dense bushland.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        With the assistance of the Dog Squad, the man was arrested and taken to Deniliquin Police Station.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        The man was charged with nine offences, including police pursuit — not stop — drive dangerously, drive whilst disqualified, drive under influence of alcohol, refuse or fail to submit to a breath test, use unauthorised number plate and goods in custody suspected of being stolen.
    
                  
                                                                                                                                                                                    
                              
        The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 on Friday, October 31.
