In a post to social media on Thursday, February 12, Mr Taylor said the party had lost its way and was in need of “strong and decisive leadership”.
His comments came after several shadow cabinet members resigned, prompting a spill motion and calls for a party meeting on Friday, February 13.
At the time of writing, Ms Ley was yet to make a statement on the challenge, with differing levels of support reported from members of her party.
