These sessions are an opportunity for community members to learn more about what’s planned, how it may impact them, and to ask questions or share feedback about the plan for the next financial year.
The first session will be held at Wanganella tonight, with others continuing throughout the month.
Sessions times and locations are as follows:
• Monday, May 11 - Wanganella Hall, 6.30pm-7.30pm.
• Wednesday, May 13 - Conargo Hall, 6.30pm-7.30pm.
• Thursday, May 14 - Edward River Library, 2pm-4pm.
• Monday, May 18 - Blighty Hall, 6.30pm-7.30pm.
• Monday, May 25 - Deniliquin Town Hall, 6.30pm-7.30pm.
The consolidated draft 2026/2027 budget sets the total capital works program at $14.95 million, with $4.3 million in grant funding already promised to support the program. Council may need to seek a $4.2 million load to help deliver the Hardinge St roadworks and flood levy projects.
Council’s budget forecasts total revenue of $39 million and operating expenses of $37 million, resulting in an operating surplus of $1.6 million.
Council’s total rates revenue is proposed to increase by three per cent, in line with the rate peg set annually by the Office of Local Government through IPART.
