It’s a 1975 XB GT Falcon hardtop coupe.
But not just any 1975 XB GT Falcon hardtop coupe.
One that was made famous being raced by John Goss and Kevin Bartlett, and also handled by Sir Jack Brabham and Allan Moffat.
It is a true icon of Bathurst history, and, fittingly, has spent spent time on display at the Australian motor-racing capital’s museum.
“This car hasn’t been seen in the public much,” MOVE’s Andrew Church said.
“It was in the Bathurst Museum for a few years and in storage, so we’re lucky to have it here at MOVE.”
The car has been described as a genuine John Goss car built to defend his 1974 Bathurst 12-hour enduro title.
To save weight for the Group C competition, it was delivered without sound deadener or seam sealer.
It qualified 10th for its Bathurst debut; however, terminal engine failure ended its campaign after just 10 laps, synonymous with many XB GTs that year as Holden Toranas led racing fields across the country.
The Falcon continued being raced until 1978 by the series of aforementioned race car drivers, making for an impressive history, particularly when Moffat piloted it to an Australian Touring Car Championship victory in 1976.
The Blaze Blue car has been restored by its original builder, Kerry Turley, using original parts and specifications to look just as it did in 1975.
It’s powered by a 300hp 351ci Cleveland V8 and has a Toploader 4-speed transmission, which sends power to the rear.
The vehicle remains one of the most significant and popular Falcon hardtops from the era.
