The utility-scale battery energy storage system for Shepparton North is currently progressing through the planning permit stage.
Yeyurringal Energy’s Tony Peardon said the major project would be the first of seven across the state installing infrastructure for 700kW PV and 2350kwh battery storage systems.
He said the projects would have a “major focus on a First Nations workforce, which would also lead to skills and professional development”.
“We also plan to utilise Indigenous businesses wherever possible, such as in civil works and construction,” he said.
Avenis Energy is a Australian company that develops renewable energy, with a focus on utility-scale solar, wind and battery energy storage systems.
Construction is set to begin on the Shepparton project early next year, marking a significant milestone for large-scale renewable investment now flowing into the region.
Work is already under way on a 170kW PV and 424kWh battery installation at the Rumbalara Elders Facility on Ford Rd.
Yeyurringal Energy said the projects represented a focus on delivering high-scale renewable infrastructure to support vulnerable and culturally significant sites closer to home.
