If there is a pampered pooch at your house, who has always secretly believed they were the best-dressed, best-behaved or most talented dog, this could finally be their moment.

Yarrawonga Mulwla’s four-legged residents are invited to put their best paw forward at a brand-new community event on Saturday, October 24.

Ritchies IGA Yarrawonga will host its Community Fun Day, bringing together families, local organisations, community groups and plenty of furry friends for three hours of free entertainment and fundraising.

Running from 10 am to 1 pm at the Belmore Street supermarket, the event promises something for everyone, but there is little doubt who will be stealing the show.

Paws for a Cause will see Yarrawonga’s dogs battle it out for bragging rights in a light-hearted, entertaining competition.

There will be categories for Best Dressed, Owner and Dog Look-Alike, Best Well-Behaved and Best Trick before one four-legged entrant is crowned the Overall Winner.

Whether your dog can perform an impressive trick, bears an uncanny resemblance to you or simply looks fabulous in an outfit, everyone is encouraged to have a go.

And while the dogs may command plenty of attention, their humans certainly haven’t been forgotten.

Friends in Common will fire up the barbecue for a sausage sizzle and will also hold a monster raffle, adding another local fundraising element to the day.

Families can enjoy face painting, show bags and costumed characters, while local schools will provide entertainment.

The CFA will also be on hand with a community stall, alongside food tastings, a Ritchies Loyalty Card booth and random customer gifts throughout the morning.

The event is designed to be more than simply a morning of entertainment.

It will provide an opportunity for local families to come together while shining a light on some of the organisations, volunteers and businesses that contribute to the Yarrawonga community.
