Celebrated Tasmanian author Meg Bignell will be the star attraction for a lively conversation under the vines with book moderator, author, awards judge and editor Jaclyn Crupi.
Meg is the author of The Angry Women’s Choir, Welcome to Nowhere River, The Sparkle Pages and The Good Losers– warm, funny and fiercely observed novels that celebrate community and the people who build it.
Her third novel, The Angry Women’s Choir (Penguin, 2022) was shortlisted for the 2022 Margaret and Colin Roderic Literary Award and won the 2025 Tasmanian people’s choice award for fiction.
The Good Losers was the March read for Birds of a Feather (Australia’s biggest online book club) this year, receiving rave reviews across the country.
Festival co-organiser Christy O’Brien said if you haven’t read “this boisterous and heartfelt tale” about community, motherhood, sexism and friendship, you can get a copy from the official festival bookseller, Collins Echuca.
“In addition to her book writing, Meg has written and performed for cabaret, stage and television, and lives on a dairy farm in Tasmania with her husband, three children, one dog and 1000 cows,” Christy said.
“Whether you’re a devoted book clubber, a creative soul, a lover of the land, or simply someone who believes there’s little better than a long lunch, a good glass of wine and a story worth getting lost in, this one’s for you,” she said.
“Come for the food and wine, stay for the stories, conversation and company at one of our region’s most beautiful riverside wineries.”
You can get tickets for the October 17 lunch at festivalofstories.com.au.
