Congratulations to CVBD Novice champion Louisa Dean who won the regional novice championship at the weekend.
A great performance by an up-and-coming bowler.
A bring-a-friend bowls night was conducted last week where 36 players attended a very successful evening, and some new members will be recruited.
Winners were Craig Beck, Donna Weller and Dick North (2+53) from Ray McDonnell, Bethany Mills and Trevor Rickard (2 52) on a countback from Max Clifford, Bob Baker and Ian Page.
Women's social bowls on Tuesday played scrounges with the winners being Sandra Glasser, Marie Malone and Isobel Tyson.
The Caledonian Hotel social club enjoyed barefoot bowls last week at a well-attended evening.
Thursday’s jackpot pairs saw 32 teams compete for the meat trays supplied by Echuca Meats with seven teams winning both games.
Overall winners on the day were Lal Whyte and Carlie Taylor (26) from Barry Devlin and Jim Harris (18).
The best one game went to Jerome Shaw and Greg Clymo (15).
Congratulations to our mid-week pennant team Echuca White which defeated Moama Red by 16 shots to win through to the grand final.
The best rink in a great team effort was Roma Opie (s),Kerryn Evans, Lee Beattie and Sue Proctor (26).
Our weekend pennant results were disappointing with divisions 1, 2 and 4 losing their semi-finals with division three posting a win and moving to the preliminary final.
Division one unfortunately lost skipper Matt Liverton to illness just prior to the game which meant a last-minute change to that rink, however, they, comprising Jim Ferrier (s), Trevor Liddell, Bill Cook and Matt Brighton (4) were the best performed in a close encounter overall, going down by nine shots.
Division two went down to Moama by 12 shots with Michelle Cunnington (s), Ian Whiting, Lal Whyte and Carlie Taylor managing a draw and the other two rinks losing.
Division three had a huge 19-shot win over Lockington with Tony Deenen (s), Nathan Beecroft, Ron Payne and Robyn Tooley (13) the best.
Division four went down by one shot in a nail-biting finish after falling away a little late in the season.
John Blair (s), John Dignan, Max Clifford and Dick North (13) were the only winners.
The Echuca Racing Club-sponsored mixed pairs medley was conducted on Sunday with 14 teams competing.
Winners were Matt Liverton and Robyn Tooley from Brian Davie and Rhonda Gallagher with third place going to Steve and Michelle Cunnington.
Help from members is required on the greens for the schools tournament to be held on Friday, March 5.

In club events, congratulations to Rhonda Gallagher and Lee Beattie who won the women's pairs final, defeating Anna Meyer and Belinda Chong.
Also, congratulations to Bob Pratt on winning the veterans’ singles, defeating Lal Whyte 25-24.
The working bee scheduled for Sunday, March 7 has been postponed as one will be necessary before the grand finals which are to be held at Echuca on Saturday, March 20.

Lockington
There was plenty of excitement at the women's social bowls on Tuesday when the formidable trio of Trish Jones, Margaret Dowie and Phyllis MacFarlane (s) won the day and collected the spoils.
On the evening of Tuesday, February 23 the round of barefoot bowls attracted a good roll-up.
Winners on the night were Ray Hanson, Cindy Felmingham and Alicia Racheal (s) two wins, 15 shots ahead of Ian Haines, Dean Cook and Jacob Haines (s) two wins, 12 shots.
Barefoot bowls will continue this week.
In the semi-finals of the CVBD Pennant competition held on Saturday our two divisions, three and four, fought out a great battle with their City of Echuca opponents.
The overall result was a one win/one loss ratio.
Division three lost its game 51-70 with a tie and two losses.
Rink details: Ray Hanson lost to T. Deenan 16-24; Ian Johnson l.t. D. Payne 12-24; Russell Shawcross drew with G. Clymo 22-all.
In the match between the opposing two division four teams, our bowlers won the day by one single shot 51-50 in a cliffhanger.
Scores were level with one end to play.
The Ken Main rink was holding one shot as the skippers crossed over and the City of Echuca skipper John Simpson tried desperately to remove the shot bowl but to no avail.
The Lockington team was rapt to win a place in the preliminary final.

Division 3: Moama def. Mathoura 72-47.
Division 4. Rich River def. Moama 80-52.
The club championships are continuing to proceed.
In the semi-final of the B-grade championship, Owen McPhee won a thriller against Brian Kinnane 25-23.
Kinnane was staring down the barrel trailing 14-22 but made a tremendous comeback to just fail to win the match.
McPhee will play Dave Thomas in the final after Thomas accounted for Les Brereton.
The women started their 100-up president's trophy championship.
Leanne McInnes was in fine form to eliminate Annette Brereton in the first round.
Members have travelled to district tournaments over the past week.
Alan Kauffman, Tom Davis, Phillip Cunnington (s) played the Stanhope two-bowl triples and won three games out of the four, losing the final game by one shot.
Further bad luck was the fact there was only one four-game winner, but, alas, there was a three-and-a-half-game winner to claim the runners-up trophy.
Birthday wishes are offered to Annie Haines and Joy Weller on celebrating special occasions.

On Tuesday, March 9 is the annual twilight mixed fours event commencing at 5 pm.
On Friday, March 19 the women will hold the medley fours tournament starting at 10 am.

The weekly barbecue and practice session was well attended with club secretary Neil Haines collecting the lucky members’ jackpot for the third time this year.

Regional State Bowls – Ladies State Triples
Beryl Murray (Mathoura) playing in a composite side with Gayle Kerr and June Clifton (Echuca) represented Campaspe Valley in Bendigo.
The opposition on the day was too good and the team got knocked out.
Congratulations to the three players, it is a great effort to get this far in any state event.
This long weekend March 6 to 8 there is no pennant being played so it is a great chance to get some club games played.
Rich River
The CVBD pennant finals got off to a great start for Rich River club with three of the four teams all advancing through to the grand final to be played over the next three weeks.
The mid-week pennant team advanced after defeating Mathoura Blue and will contest the decider on Friday, March 12 to be played at Mathoura Bowling Club.
Rich River is hosting the mid-week pennant preliminary finals at the club on Friday, March 5.
The weekend pennant teams for divisions 2 and 4 had strong wins and now advance directly to the grand finals which are to be played at Echuca Bowling Club on Saturday, March 20.
Division 1 will contest the preliminary final against Mathoura on Saturday, March 13, at a yet to be confirmed venue, to hopefully also advance through to the grand final the following weekend to join the two other Rich River teams.
A very successful ladies prestige fours tournament, sponsored by Menarock and Allen Court, was held at Rich River on Wednesday, February 24 at which many of our female members enjoyed an extremely pleasant day of bowling.
Winners on the day were the Moama team of Marilyn Stephenson, Margo Brennan, Colleen Maslen and Mia Young.
Another Moama team of Denise Pappin, Bev Trengrove, Trish Costello and Kelly Norris were runners-up.
An honourable mention to the Rich River side of Pam Hayes, Stephanie Shine, Rita Moresco and Carol Guille with a best last game performance.

Next weekend, Sunday March 7, at the Bendigo East Bowling Club members of our club will be competing in the regional finals.
The club wishes them all the very best and congratulates them on reaching this level of competition.
It is hoped that many Rich River members can make it to the venue and support them in their quest.
In the morning session, Trevor Nagorcka will be playing in the state singles title along with Rich River's state fours team of Darryl Weymouth, Peter Nesbitt, Colin Hayes and Gerry Devlin.
In the afternoon session, Peter Nesbitt will be contesting the Champion of Champions title.
As usual, this week ladies’ social bowls returns to Tuesday and men's jackpot pairs is on Wednesday at the normal times.
Only a small group of 18 bowlers gathered on Thursday, February 25 last week for a game of two-bowl triples with the following results:
1st: Brian Trengrove, Barry Cox and Keith Rowan — 61 points/18 shots up.
2nd: Peter Jackson, John James and Leon Sharp — 59 points/11 shots up.
