Four sentenced over Echuca car robbery

A MAN was jailed for four months over a robbery in Echuca earlier this year.

Kade William Mongta was sentenced in Echuca Magistrates’ Court on September 30, after pleading guilty to robbery, as well as driving and drug-related offences.

The 22-year-old’s sentence of 117 days’ imprisonment was equivalent to his time served in custody after being arrested on May 16.

It followed a raid at an Echuca property on the corner of Sturt and Service streets in late April.

Detective Senior Constable Jason Hare of Campaspe criminal investigation unit said Mongta threatened a man in his 30s until he signed over his car and handed over his bank card on March 18.

The vehicle, which was found in Service St in April, was impounded.

Mongta was also ordered to complete an 18-month community corrections order, which included 200 hours of unpaid work.

Three co-accused also pleaded guilty to robbery.

Levi Jones, 20, Tecia Wyatt, 20, and Blake James Russell, 23, were convicted and each ordered to complete a 12-month CCO including 100 hours of community work.

Wyatt and Russell also pleaded guilty to theft of the bank card.
