Feast your eyes on East’s biggest fete in decades

By Ivy Jensen

ECHUCA East Primary School is staging its biggest fete in decades.

All in the name of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for its students.

Planning is under way for the Amazing Autumn Community Twilight Fete later this month and organisers are hoping hundreds, if not thousands, will come through the gates.

And with the most exciting activities the school has ever had, organisers are expecting it to be its biggest and best fete yet.

‘‘We have worked hard to create a community event for all ages,’’ Jodi Ujimoto said.

‘‘We will have amazing activities, free games and craft, awesome food and live entertainment.’’

Chelsea Dridan said their fundraising goal was to improve the school’s outdoor learning and play spaces to encourage active learning and lifestyles, including the building of a new extended and roofed bike enclosure.

‘‘Come and support a great Echuca school and have a great time in the process,’’ she said.

Activities will include laser tag, rock climbing, archery, an inflatable obstacle course, mini golf and train rides, as well as the old favourites such as the Jaffa bash, lucky jars, apple bobbing, face painting, spin the wheel, lucky dips, laughing clowns and donut on a string.

There will also be a Kiss the Pig competition.

Unlimited activity passes are only $20.

Community groups such as Echuca Scouts and EpicKids will run free activities at the event and there will be emergency services demonstrations, an animal nursery, community market stalls, basketball shoot-out competitions, karate and dancing exhibitions and free live musical entertainment.

For foodies, well-known local restaurants Shebani’s and Monkee and Co. will be running pop-up food stalls, while American hot dogs, hot jam donuts, fairy floss and snow cones will also be available.

A coffee van will also be on site.

The monster Easter raffle will be drawn on the night, with 67 prizes worth more than $3000 to be won.

Tickets are $2 and can be bought from tomorrow at the school office or at the fete.

The fete will be held at the school, 21-31 Eyre St, from 3.30pm to 7pm on Friday, March 29.
