AN ECHUCA man accused of firing a shotgun over the head of his ex-partner’s father is behind bars.

Detective Senior Constable Jason Hare of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit said police were called to an Eyre St house early Tuesday after the domestic violence incident.
Det. Snr Constable Hare said after phoning and texting his ex-partner, the 27-year-old man allegedly drove to the property between 1.30am-2am, but was told by the male occupant in his late 40s he was not welcome.
‘‘He’s gone back to his vehicle and taken out a .410 shotgun and fired three shots over the man’s head,’’ he said.
‘‘He then took off and police were called.’’
Det. Snr Constable Hare said the 27-year-old attended Echuca police station by appointment on yesterday morning.
Police charged him with conduct endangering person, assault-related offences and using a phone to make threats to kill.
He appeared in Echuca Magistrates Court yesterday where he he was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear on February 25 at Bendigo Magistrates Court.
