The Echuca Racing Club provided more than $50,000 to Sunday’s event, while Country Racing Victoria gave more than $8000, the Riverine Herald more than $3000 and $1600 coming from in-kind contributions.
The Victorian Government also contributed $27,000 towards the day and, along with $25,000 each from Echuca Racing Club and Racing Victoria, spent more than $46,000 on infrastructure upgrades at the club.
The project included resurfacing the horse float area and stalls entrance to make it suitable for all weather conditions and improving safety and accessibility for horses, staff and riders.
“The government is upgrading infrastructure at country racing venues across Victoria to ensure the industry remains a major employer and driver of tourism for regional cities and towns,’’ Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said.
