Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit said an 18-year-old woman was walking along Eyre St about 4.15pm last Tuesday when she was approached by a man in a car.
‘‘There was a short conversation between the two at which time the male exposed his penis to the young woman,’’ he said.
‘‘He then drove off.’’
Det. Snr Constable Wickham said there were no threats or demands made and the man did not get out of the car.
‘‘Obviously the young woman is quite shaken up,’’ he said.
‘‘The behaviour is disgusting and concerning and we’re doing everything we can to identify the male involved.
‘‘There have been other incidents of a similar nature in the Echuca area involving similar-aged women and we’re looking to establish whether this is isolated or related.’’
Det. Snr Constable Wickham said police were taking the matter seriously and urged people to be mindful.
At least two schools have also sent letters to parents stating: ‘‘It has come to our attention that a young child was approached by an unknown person in a vehicle while walking in Echuca East yesterday (June 11)’’.
‘‘Parents are urged to take this opportunity to remind their children about personal safety with regards to strangers.’’
Anyone with information about this incident or others are urged to contact Echuca police on 54831500 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
