The man was arrested just after 2am this morning in High St,Shepparton after it was reported to police that the man had been travelling in the area intercepting cars and pulling them over.
The offending driver had also been witnessed parked inside the Maude St Mall.
Shepparton police Acting Sergeant David Brierley said the offending driver was a Kyabram SES unit volunteer.
Sgt Brierley said the intoxicated driver spent time in the Shepparton police station cells before being interviewed and released.
"He has had his licence taken off him," Sgt Brierley said.
"We're appealing for any witnesses who may have been approached or seen the SES vehicle."
Victoria State Emergency Service spokesperson Matt Gallant said VICSES was aware of the incident involving one of their members."These alleged activities are completely unacceptable and this type of behaviour is not tolerated at VICSES," he said."The member was immediately suspended from all VICSES activities upon contact from Victoria Police, pending further investigations."
