Tri hard to win the club’s aquathlon

Always an incredibly exciting weekend but this year major roadworks on Warren St have forced a change for 2019 — the traditional triathlon will be replaced with an aquathlon.

That will incorporate a swim in the Murray River and a bush run.

Whether you’re a competitor or an enthusiastic cheerer, the three events across the weekend could have you spotting the next Kieran Perkins, Cadel Evans and Steve Moneghetti.

Kicking off with Moama Bowling Club’s Junior Duathlon on Saturday 9.30am, individuals aged seven-10 years will complete a 400m run, 2km ride and a 400m run. Those aged 11-14 years will run 800m, ride 5km and run 800m.

Saturday night will see individuals and teams compete in Morley Auto Group Aquathlon starting at 6pm. In this event, teams and individuals will complete a 750m swim and 7.5km run. Ages 15 and over from January 1 this year are able to compete in the Aquathlon.

The weekend will finish with the Morrisons Wharf to Winery 3km Swim beginning at 9.30am on Sunday.

So it’s time to dust off your Christmas pud and put your fitness to the ultimate test.

Moama Bowling Club Junior Duathlon:

Individual aged seven to 10 years - $20

Individual aged 11 to 14 years - $20

Morley Auto Group Aquathlon:

Individual - Triathlon Australia Member - $70

Individual - Non Triathlon Australia Member - $80

Team - all male - $80 per team

Team - All Female - $80 per team

Team - Mixed - $80 per team

Junior Individual - Triathlon Australia Member - $70

Junior Individual - Non Triathlon Australia Member - $80

Morrisons Wharf to Winery:

Wharf to Winery Swim - Open - $50 with $5 from every entry donated to Community Living & Respite Services.

First open male and first open female will recieve prize money of $500.00 each.

Wharf to Winery Swim - Social - $35 with $5 from every entry donated to Community Living & Respite Services.
