U14s MFL — United 25.21.171 def. Tungamah 0.0.0
A later than normal start for us week being that there was no 17s game was appreciated by all that made the hour and 20 minute trek to Tungamah.
The team has set itself to improve every week, even when playing in new positions.
Pleasingly that’s what we achieved.
Sam Fisher, Ryan Stobaus, Dylan Purbrick and Noah Schmedje hadn’t played together as a midfield group but won clearance after clearance, propelling the ball forward to Ollie, Godders and Hunter.
The delivery into the forward line was how we want it and at quarter time we had a comfortable advantage.
In the second quarter the team looked vastly different and to their credit the very young Tungamah side tackled with intent and showed real spirit to keep us to a low score.
After half time the flood gates opened and by the end of the day our endeavour to share the footy and play team first football had resulted in 10 individual goal kickers and time spent playing in new spots which will hold us in good stead later in the year.
Awards: Ryan Stobaus (Eagles Award), Dylan Purbrik (Eagles Canteen), Fayte Belmont-Wickliffe (Subway), Riley Godfrey (Roma pizza), Ollie Poole (Petstock), Noah Schmedje (Paramount).
