The team at the Yarrawonga Vet Clinic will be collecting donations for the next few weeks to send a “care package” north to help the completely overwhelmed wildlife volunteers caring for the animals effected from the devastating fires.
Nell Duffy from the Yarrawonga Vet Clinic said over 350 koalas have perished in NSW fires so far.
“The body count once you add in all the other species affected is even more devastating,” Nell said.
“There are many bush fires still burning out of control across NSW and the Sunshine Coast. Animals are pouring in, injured, dehydrated and suffering from smoke inhalation. Rescues and wildlife hospitals cannot keep up,” Nell said.
The team are also hoping they can get a courier to jump on board to transport the care packages at no cost.
For anyone wishing to donate the clinic have a basket to drop items into. Any cash donations will be used to purchase items.
