The annual Riverboats Music Festival has seen the performer/producer take on the MC role for five years, but he's coming back earlier this year for the GMCU Allianz Campaspe Murray Business Awards on Wednesday night.
“I usually only come back once a year, but to come back sooner is very exciting,” Nankervis said.
Nankervis has had his name attached to a number of roles over time, but more notably his early work as engineer/poet Raymond J. Bartholomeuz on the TV entertainment show Hey Hey, It's Saturday and as the producer and co-host of SBS's RocKwiz.
Despite all this, he enjoys travelling to events like the Business Awards.
“I love gigs like this, I love the people in the area and I'm very excited to be back for something a little bit different,” he said.
“It's another approach or another aspect of the area I get so see.”
Nankervis' aim for the night is to keep everything moving along and to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves.
“A lot of people can see a night like this as something that just drags on, but I'm going to make sure everything goes smoothly and no one get's bored,” he said.
But don't think you'll get away with just sitting in the audience and not getting involved.
“I think interacting with your audience is very important and I'm planning to do a bit of a music quiz throughout the night to keep everyone interested.”
Nankervis said events like the business awards night are important, even to those who don't come from the area.
“I love sitting back on the night and seeing businesses that have worked so hard throughout the year being recognised for all of that. It's an important event particularly in regional areas.”
Brian will be at the Rich River Golf Club from 6pm.
