In a unanimous decision, the state executive removed Moira Deeming as the Liberal candidate for Western Metropolitan, after she declined to apologise over unsubstantiated claims of violence against former leader Matthew Guy.
Ms Wilson told reporters on Saturday the decision was ''the right one'' but confirmed Mrs Deeming would remain in the Liberal party room for the final weeks of the parliamentary term.
''She's going to remain in the party room. We have no plans to expel Moira from the party room,'' Ms Wilson said in Gisborne on day 28 of her statewide ''fresh start'' tour.
''We've only got four weeks left of the parliament, and we're not going to waste a minute.''
Election analyst and blogger Ben Raue said the ruction was undesirable but unlikely to cause a major electoral headwind for the party come November.
''In terms of the direct electoral impact, I'm sceptical,'' the Tally Room founder told AAP.
The fact the decision to disendorse Mrs Deeming was unanimous should blunt suggestions the episode underscored deep internal divisions, he said.
''(Ms Wilson) seems to have the party behind her,'' he said.
More important is whether the party can convince the electorate it is ready to govern after 12 years of Labor.
''People might find it hard to imagine what a coalition government in Victoria actually looks like,'' Mr Raue said.
''It's a bit of a natural Labor state, coalition governments are a bit of an aberration.''
Speaking alongside Liberal candidate for Macedon Kate Kendall, Ms Wilson said her focus was on issues such as regional funding, cost of living and crime.
''I've spent the last 28 days continuously out around Victoria … and voters are focused on the fact that they don't feel safe in their homes, that they're trying to run small and family businesses and they simply cannot keep their doors open,'' she said.
Mrs Deeming will serve out the remainder of her term as the representative for the Western Metropolitan region but will not be allowed to recontest under the Liberal banner.
Ms Wilson issued a written statement soon after Friday's party meeting saying ''this matter is now concluded'' and reiterating her focus on delivering a ''fresh start'' for Victoria in November.
Mrs Deeming earlier in the week withdrew a legal challenge seeking to prevent the party from moving against her, clearing a path for Friday's vote.
It came after the MP accused Mr Guy of grabbing her ''violently'' in a headlock, but she later claimed she misunderstood the meaning of "headlock''.
Mr Guy told reporters in June that Mrs Deeming owed him a public apology, adding he vehemently denied that anything untoward took place.
