Against Spring Gully on Sunday, the Border Raiders scored three goals in the space of five second half minutes - but it wasn't enough as they went down 7-3.
Thany Williams was the star of the second half with two goals, after being switched from midfield to attack by coach Darryl Brown.
"I couldn't believe how quickly she had an impact," Brown said.
"Spring Gully couldn't get the ball off her. Thany's performance has certainly given me something to think about for the rest of the year.
"Making that move could become vital when we are chasing games."
Despite losing their fifth game in a row, Brown said there was still plenty of confidence in the group.
"We knew it was never going to be easy with nine players," he explained.
"But the girls are continuing to give it their best shot on a weekly basis. Being able to score goals against a full team when you are short shows we do have quality.
"We're excited to get a full team back out on the park."
The Border Raiders will now travel to take on Shepparton South on Sunday.
