Three Cohuna-based community groups have received a total of $10,150 through the 2026 Gannawarra Small Grants Program.
The Cohuna Cemetery Trust was the biggest beneficiary of the trio, receiving $4400 for upgrades to its Lyons Rd driveway.
Two grants of $2000 were awarded to the Cohuna and District Progress Association ‒ one towards a New Year’s Eve festival and fireworks display, and the other to support this year’s edition of the Cohuna Chilli Festival.
The Cohuna Fire Brigade also received a grant of $1750, which will be used for maintenance of the brigade’s grounds.
Nearly $50,000 was awarded to 19 projects in the council’s annual community grants program, which invites applicants from across the Gannawarra to apply for funding for local events and initiatives.
Applications were assessed against Gannawarra Shire Council’s Small Grants Program guidelines as well as a matrix examining the proposed project’s likelihood of delivery and its contributions to innovation, access and inclusion and lasting community involvement and benefits.
