Echuca man remanded on 30-plus warrants after alleged shop theft assault

Harlem Penn has been charged with a range of alleged theft-related offences, as well as aggravated assault in relation to an incident at a shop on Anstruther Street on August 31.

Police allege Penn attempted to steal a one-litre carton of juice from the store. When a woman in her 70s asked him to return the item, he allegedly threw the carton, striking her in the head, before fleeing the scene.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was left shaken by the incident.

Penn was further remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Bendigo Magistrates' Court on September 15.
