Echuca traffic lights working after four-month delay

THE traffic lights at the Sturt St and Ogilvie Ave intersection are finally operational after more than four months of delays.

The project, which was originally forecast to be completed by June 30, involved building additional turning and bike lanes, changing the layout of the intersection, street lighting and installing traffic lights.

Regional Roads Victoria worked with V/Line and VicTrack to ensure the traffic lights, which were switched on on Monday, November 9, worked in conjunction with the nearby level crossing.

“Works have finished on a major intersection upgrade in Echuca that will make it safer and easier for thousands of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians every day,” Acting RRV Northern director Barry Green said.

The $5 million upgrade and the improvements near Scott Rd are both part of a $20 million investment to increase safety on the Murray Valley Hwy between Echuca and Yarrawonga with the state and federal governments investing $10 million each.
