Schools are at the heart of our communities. They build skills for happy, healthy and successful lives.
I have had the privilege of visiting many schools this year ‒ including the record 19 new schools opened this year. Every school visit drives home to me what supportive, vibrant and welcoming places they are.
Each Victorian school is unique but all of them have dedicated school leaders, teachers and support staff. They do an amazing job sparking a lifelong love of learning for their students and ensuring our schools are places where students feel safe, included and welcomed.
This year, Education Week is from Monday, May 18 to Friday, May 22. The theme is ‘Showcase your school’. It is a time to share all the things you love about your school.
There are many ways to celebrate Education Week, and parents, students and staff are all encouraged to get involved. Schools can hold an open day and invite parents and carers into classrooms. Students can draw or write about what they like best about their school. Long-serving school staff or school volunteers can be recognised for their contributions.
