Sixteen projects have secured a combined $141,897 in funding, supporting initiatives ranging from community transport and heritage preservation to arts programs, sustainability upgrades and emergency preparedness.
There was strong demand for this round of grants, with 26 applications seeking a total of $243,000.
Applications were assessed on demonstrated community need, proposed project outcomes and the applicant’s capacity to successfully deliver the project.
Among the successful projects is the Strathbogie Community Bus Pilot Program, which received $10,000 to trial a weekly return bus service between Strathbogie and Euroa.
Led by the Strathbogie Tableland Action Group, the project aims to improve transport options for residents while gathering data to support future funding for a community-owned electric bus.
Avenel Neighbourhood House will receive $6756 to replace the Hughes Creek Bridge heritage sign and reconstruct a replica of the town's original tollgate, celebrating an important part of the district's history.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Scott Jeffery said the grants recognised the important role community groups played in creating vibrant and connected towns.
"Our community organisations are driven by passionate volunteers who continue to find new ways to strengthen their towns and support local people," Cr Jeffery said.
"This year's successful projects reflect the diversity of our communities. They range from practical initiatives that improve safety and community facilities through to arts, culture, sustainability and environmental projects that will benefit residents for years to come."
Other successful recipients include Gooram Bushfire Recovery Sub Committee, Gooram Community, Community Learning Euroa, Euroa Historical and Genealogical Society, Euroa Agricultural Society, Euroa Bridge Club, Avenel Active, Longwood Plains Conservation Management Network, Friends of Euroa Library, Ruffy Mechanics Institute Reserve, Moglonemby Community Hall, Longwood East Landcare Group and the Violet Town Art Music Performance Collective.
The Community Strengthening and Sustainability Grants program provides funding to projects that strengthen community connections, improve local facilities, support environmental sustainability and enhance the livability of towns across Strathbogie Shire.
