The club's substantial investment builds on an earlier $30,000 contribution made three years ago, bringing its total support to $130,000.
This funding has unlocked Stage 1 of CCTV installation across Echuca CBD, High St and key tourism areas.
Moama Bowling Club sales and marketing manager George Santos said the club decided to make the significant investment to get the project moving.
We invested initially $30,000 in the project about three years ago and the project was looking at $50,000 to start it off and $150,000 to actually complete the first stage,” Mr Santos said.
“The Moama Bowling Club decided to make a go of it and provide $100,000 in one go to enable the project to get going.”
The initiative has been developed in partnership with police, councils, business groups and community stakeholders across both sides of the NSW-Victoria border.
“The project is at the point that it can progress in conjunction with the Campaspe Shire Council, the Victorian Police and with C4EM at the helm of the project,” Mr Santos said.
Mr Santos emphasised the club's broader community commitment.
“We are part of the Echuca Moama community and we contribute regularly to many programs, certainly through sports, arts, education, health and the business community,” he said.
“We support C4EM to a large degree, as it is an organisation that we see having a huge future in our community, driving projects like this, as well as tourism and other business opportunities.”
The club is also a finalist in the Social Inclusion category for its support of the community wheels turning young lives towards opportunity project.
It purchased a new Toyota Yaris for the L2P learner driver program after being approached by CCLLEN when its existing vehicle reached the end of its life.
“There are many people in our community who don't have family or friends that enable them to get behind the wheel and get those hours up, so we see this program as being incredibly valuable for young people,” Mr Santos said.
The awards ceremony takes place at ICC Sydney on Thursday, June 11.
