Rich River Wealth is about more than just managing money; it's about helping people understand their financial options and make informed decisions as they approach and enjoy retirement.
Our Echuca financial planners can assist you in exploring your financial options and developing strategies aimed at supporting your financial goals and lifestyle, now and into retirement.
Seniors Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the contribution older Australians make to our families and communities.
It is also a good time to talk about something that can become increasingly important as we get older: having confidence in our understanding of our financial options and knowing where to seek guidance when circumstances change.
At Rich River Wealth, we work with many people in the Echuca and surrounding communities who are retired or approaching retirement.
One of the most common things we hear is that not everyone wants to become experts in superannuation, investments, pensions or government rules.
Most simply want to better understand their financial arrangements and know where to turn when they have questions.
So, what does a financial planner actually do?
In simple terms, we help people make informed decisions about their money and how it may support the life they want.
For someone approaching retirement, that might involve looking at superannuation, investments, retirement income and everyday spending to understand how these different areas fit together. We can also provide general information and guidance on Centrelink and aged care matters.
For someone who is already retired, our role may involve reviewing their retirement income arrangements, discussing whether their current strategies remain appropriate for their needs, reviewing their investments and considering whether adjustments may be required as their circumstances change.
And sometimes, it is simply about having someone who understands their financial situation and is available to discuss their options.
A local relationship that extends to the family
One of the things that means the most to us is when the trust a client places in us extends to their family.
We have a number of retired clients who value having a local adviser they know and trust.
They appreciate being able to sit down with someone face-to-face, ask questions and receive ongoing support and regular reviews to help them stay informed about their financial arrangements.
Recently, a couple we already look after referred their mother to us.
She is in aged care, and her financial circumstances had become more complex.
For the family, finding someone local who could sit down with them, understand her financial situation and explain the available financial options was an important part of their decision-making process.
It was a lovely reminder that financial advice isn't always about finding a better investment or achieving a particular return.
Sometimes it is about helping a family understand their financial options during an important stage of life.
Retirement doesn't mean financial decisions stop
In fact, retirement can bring a whole new set of financial decisions.
- How much can I afford to spend?
- How should I draw an income from my superannuation?
- Where can I find information about the financial considerations of aged care?
- How can I help my children or grandchildren?
- What happens to my finances if my circumstances change?
These aren't always easy questions to answer, and everyone's situation is different.
Our role is to explain the financial options in plain English, help clients understand the potential implications of different decisions and develop strategies that aim to reflect what is important to them.
At Rich River Wealth, we believe good financial planning is about more than numbers.
It is about relationships, understanding what matters to each client and providing ongoing financial advice and reviews as their circumstances change.
We are proud to be a local financial planning practice with offices in Echuca and Swan Hill, supporting clients and their families through the different stages of life.
This Seniors Week, if there is one thing we'd encourage people to consider, it is that you don't have to navigate your financial future alone.
Sometimes, having access to professional financial advice, regular reviews and someone who understands your circumstances and goals can help you make more informed decisions about your financial future.
