Content is wanted from visitors, residents, tourism operators and organisations from across the wider region, including communities that don’t lie on the river itself, such as Deniliquin, Holbrook and Rochester.
These memories will assist MRT’s new campaign, which explore the traditions and experiences that have made the region part of people’s lives.
The organisation is particularly interested in hearing from holidaymakers who have returned to the same place across many years, and the operators that have hosted them.
MRT chief executive Cameron Sutton said the campaign would be shaped by those who know the region best.
“Many people don’t visit the Murray just once,” Mr Sutton said.
“They return to the same towns, parks, stretches of river and holiday rituals over decades.
“We want to find the stories behind those traditions, including the everyday moments families still talk about today.”
People don’t have to have polished stories or old material digitised.
They can share what they remember, describe what they have, or help connect MRT to someone with an interesting story.
Postcards, brochures and other tourism material are also welcomed.
Submissions for material close Friday, August 7, with selected content potentially being used in the campaign.
