When the man's wife noticed her husband wasn't home, about 2.40am on Tuesday, and the tractor sitting idle in the paddock, she found the man and called 000.
Paramedics were called to the property just before 3am and rescued the man.
He was then flown by air ambulance helicopter to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition with lower body injuries.
