It's about knowing what matters most to each resident and making every day meaningful.
Leading the next chapter of the home is general manager Georgia Cunningham.
Georgia joined Tongala Memorial in August from one of Respect's other homes in the area, Cohuna Village, where she has been working for the past two years.
Georgia not only brings extensive experience across aged care and community services, but is focused on supporting staff, deepening relationships with families and ensuring residents feel known, valued and included in daily life. She is also a local, having grown up in Kyabram.
Tongala Memorial has a long 100-year history of care and commitment to the Tongala community, Georgia said.
“My role is to honour that history and make sure every resident feels comfortable and remains independent, each family member feels heard and each member of my team feels supported to carry out their best work.”
Georgia joins a team dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel truly at home.
Take Charlotte, Tongala Memorial’s beloved social care co-ordinator, whose creative programs, from gardening and pamper days to mystery tours, music therapy and high teas, bring laughter, joy and connection to daily life.
Or Justine, care manager, whose caring and methodical approach ensures every resident has a personalised care plan tailored to their needs.
Then there’s Thomas, chef supervisor, who remembers every resident’s meal preference, their ‘likes’, their ‘loves’ and their dietary needs.
It takes a whole team of passionate, nurturing professionals to deliver the kind of care that makes Tongala Memorial feel like home, now led with warmth and purpose by Georgia.
Following recent renovations, Tongala Memorial features refreshed resident rooms, updated dining areas, new furniture and a hair salon.
As the home celebrates 100 years of care, the commitment remains the same: every resident feels valued, supported and actively engaged.
We invite you to visit, meet the team, and experience the warmth of Tongala Memorial.
