Whyte was one of four players sin-binned when the Roosters beat the Dolphins 64-12 late last year, after tensions boiled over following a high hit on Roosters centre Billy Smith.
Spencer Leniu and Aublix Tawha clashed twice in a matter of minutes, while Whyte was accused of escalating the situation when he charged in and ultimately faced off with Francis Molo.
Dolphins captain Isaiya Katoa referenced the incident after their qualifying-final win over the Warriors, saying his side had learnt how to keep their cool.
But Whyte has made clear he is ready to go again if tensions boil over in Friday night's preliminary final at Suncorp Stadium.
"It's a pack-versus-pack (situation)," Whyte said.
"They're sticking up for their brothers, I'm doing the same for Spencer. If it goes down again, I'll have my brother's back.
"Once we cross that white line, it doesn't matter. We're going after it. If it does result in stuff going down, then it goes down.
"No matter what happens on that field there, our brother will know that we're right there beside him."
Leniu's short fuse has again been a talking point in recent weeks, after he gave away a penalty in possession when he aimed up at Keaon Koloamatangi in round 27.
The Roosters took him off the field shortly afterwards and did not bring him back on, ruling out the risk of the firebrand prop landing himself in trouble ahead of the finals.
Regardless, Whyte said it was important the Roosters pack dictated terms against the Dolphins.
"As a middle forward, as a prop, you have to set that standard and set that boundary," he said.
"Whether through a run, a tackle, whatever it may be, you make it known. You let that presence known to the other team. It's good to go.
"We'll go after any pack. No matter who you are, no matter what number you have, we're coming after you. The Dolphins have got to be ready."
Whyte will enter Friday night's clash as a completely different player to the Rooster who last featured in a preliminary final against Melbourne in 2024.
Back then he had started just eight times in a match and averaged around 30 minutes per game over the first few years of his career.
But he is now the Roosters' key forwards, leading all NRL forwards for post-contact metres this year.
"I'm just more confident in myself. Maybe back then I was just not a big name going around," Whyte said.
"I had to work my way up, and now I carry the status of a good middle forward.
"I have that belief I can go toe-to-toe with anyone, no matter who you are, no matter how long you've been in the game.
"No matter if you've played State of Origin or internationally. I come in thinking that I can beat you in whatever I can do. That's really got me to where I am today."
